Shhhhpider

Colin won't wear his spider costume for Halloween, as much as we coerce him to try. It's the same with eating fruits and veggies or wearing a bike helmet. It'll take him seeing other kids doing it before he tries it willingly.

In a way, he's upholding the old hippie anthem of not trusting anyone over 30.

Happy Halloween!

UPDATE (10/31/06, 9:49 PM): Success!

Bug juice

He wore it most of the day at daycare, and we even got a few trick-or-treat stops out of him. He surprises me more and more every day.

Useful skill

Through much trial and error, we've discovered that Colin can now count to eleven. Not 10, which would make more sense, considering the decimal numeral system that most Western countries operate on, which is believed to be based on the fact that most humans have 10 fingers on which to count. No, instead he counts to 11.

Which makes me believe that he might be hiding an extra finger or toe. Or he's going to be a football referee when he grows up, and is boning up on that "too many men on the field" rule.

Or perhaps he's channeling the spirit of Nigel Tufnel from the movie This is Spinal Tap.

It's one louder.

Party On!

As we recover from Colin's birthday party yesterday, we'd just like to thank everyone who was able to make the trip up to scenic Glendale Heights to help us celebrate. We had a lot of fun and Colin really is starting to get the hang of ripping open presents (I fear what Christmas will bring). For those we weren't able to join us, we missed you and here are a few photos....

Mmmmmmmmm.......cake

Please leave all requests for leftover mostacioli (sp?) in Comments.

After all the excitement on Saturday, the entire Williamson clan spent Sunday afternoon at the local petting zoo. Colin enjoyed the old-timey, cut-out "Photo Opportunity".

The onset on the Twos

So, the Iraq war is not going well, we all survived the phenomenon that was Snakes on a Plane, and Heidi and I recently celebrated five years of marital bliss, but anyway, on to the big news....

Colin's Turning 2!!!!

Cheesy smile

Some would call this the beginning of the Terrible Twos, but we'll see. For the most part, he's a pretty agreeable kid -- as long as you give him everything he wants when he wants it. So, either he's a good kid, or we're very well trained lapdogs.

Someday, I'll have to count the amount of words he knows, just to keep up with the Joneses. Here's some unique ones:

Schoolbus
"Big" as in: Big fence, big slide, big pants, etc., etc.
Dope (in response to "What does Homer say?")

Other milestones:
Walking up AND down stairs
Singing parts of songs
Recognizing music and dancing along
When asked, "where's Mommy/Daddy/Frankie/other object?", responds with "There she/he/it is" instead of just pointing.
Partially takes off his own clothes.
Knows most of his body parts.
Calls classmates and teachers by their names.
Knows his colors.
Smiles and scowls. It's pretty funny when he does both simultaneously.
STARTING to know when he needs to go potty.
Opens drawers, doors, and rings doorbells ("ding-dong!!!").
Unscrews and opens jars, toothpaste tubes, hair gel, and every ketchup and salad dressing bottle he can get his hands on.

Essentially, he's into EVERYTHING. And it's like a chess match trying to plot out his movements before he makes them. We're looking forward to our little celebration next Saturday with friends and family. Cross your fingers for nice weather.

And now for your amusement, a photo essay of Colin's game of "Cockapoo" -- or "Peekaboo" to you and me.
