Houses, fountains and plans

Where has the summer gone?

We've been pretty busy these last few weeks, primarily with getting our home up for sale, and searching for a new home. As most everyone knows, the housing market has slowed to a crawl and it's a real buyer's market. It's been fun looking at houses, but I'm not looking to have to pay 2 mortgages because we can't sell our first home. So, cross your fingers and think positive thoughts, and maybe soon we'll be reporting good news on the home front.

In Colin news, he's going to be turning 2 very soon. Too soon, if you ask me. Again, where has the time gone? He's talking up a storm, and we're working on potty training in the meantime. We still haven't taken him swimming, because we were concerned about his apparent fear of water. However, we had a breakthrough just this weekend when we attended Milwaukee's Irish Fest. We were having a great time listening to music, eating and drinking, when we happened upon the Summerfest Splashpad, where kids were running around and playing in the water (we didn't have our camera, but here's a picture of the Splashpad from Flickr - thanks celticman53225!). Colin sat along the side and watched everybody until I took my shoes off and wandered into the fountain. In no time, not only was he playing in the water, but dunking his head in as well. So, just in time for summer to be over, I think he's ready for the pool... *sigh*, it figures.

Soon, Heidi and I are off to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for our 5th wedding anniversary. It'll just be a long weekend, but it'll be nice to relax and spend a little time together. Colin will be with the Grandparents McB. Here's a preview of that weekend:

Then it's back in time to get ready for Colin's big 2nd birthday bash in October. There'll be acrobats, fireworks, performing ponies, dancing bears and cake. Well, there'll definitely be cake.

More to come soon. Hope everyone is well.

  • Hey there--thanks for the update on the house hunt. I was just wondering today how things were going. You know--the market is better in Colorado...I know I'm wasting my breath, but... Sounds like some big events coming up for all of you. I hope you have a ton of fun!
